For thirty five years I was a university teacher and researcher in geology and marine biology. I loved it. In particular writing scientific papers. With retirement I really wasn't in any position to continue writing for science sans research vessels, laboratory, equipment, library etc.
Accordingly to continue writing, which I really enjoy (Did I already say that?) I decided to try my hand at literary writing. My record is brief and undistinguished, but still I persist. To date most of my pieces are satirical and iconoclastic perhaps reflecting my opinions garnered over many years. Like any wannabe writer I feel my work is grossly unappreciated. Some of what I consider my best stuff has yet to draw attention gathering dust. In addition, I have a serious case of the Shakespeare Syndrome broadly translated to mean that it is unimaginable that anyone should request a rewrite. Pretty bad for a nobody, but it sure is fun.
